Governor JB Pritzker has issued an official State of Illinois proclamation declaring October 1, 2026 as Mast Cell Disease Awareness Day throughout Illinois — recognising the challenges faced by people living with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and calling on residents to learn more about the condition and support efforts to improve awareness, education, research and patient care.
The proclamation notes that MCAS patients often face significant delays in diagnosis and treatment, and that delayed recognition can lead to prolonged suffering, reduced quality of life, and substantial burdens on patients and their families. Issued under the Great Seal of the State of Illinois, it is a state-level acknowledgement of a condition that remains widely underrecognised.
